Digger is a landmark book, a remarkable achievement which deserves the highest possible recommendation.OLIVIA AMES HOBLITZELLEAuthor of Ten Thousand Joys & Ten Thousand Sorrows: a Couple’s Journey Through Alzheimer’s and Aging with Wisdom: Reflections, Stories & Teachings. In Digger, Barbara McCollough brings clarity and immediacy to a very complex, layered story. A gifted observer of people in relationships; she knows what they show and what they hide; she knows what they know but refuse to acknowledge. In Digger we see how people give themselves away, but of course, what we really see is McCollough giving us these people giving themselves away — through gestures, dialogue, silences — in other words, through ART. Amazing! Digger is such a beautifully told story of a journey through hope and the undeniable connection that lies deep within us all. Barbara McCoullough draws you in near and allows you to feel the great highs and lows of her quest to keep digging through family history. When you read her words they evoke a kinship that passes the pages with ease. I’m not a reader because my mind wonders, but this book held my mind and spirit until the end. Such an exquisite storyteller!

I was even reading it under my desk at work! The storytelling aspect is so beautifully written and the book itself is so compelling I promise you will not want to put it down!- Katie Garda
