Well worth it! I really like this book for the information on natural alternatives to harsher chemicals and for the awesome recipes. I am of African descent with tight, curls. The first soap I ever made was the Goat Milk and Honey Shampoo Bar. I really liked how it cleaned my hair and left it shiny and well defined. My whole family was impressed. I am looking forward to using some of these other recipes.

Great book, incredibly helpful This book is beautifully created! Absolutely perfect for starters. The layout and organization is well thought out and so much knowledge is shared in a very easy to digest manner. A great balance between both the art and the science behind soap making. I found most helpful were the conversion charts, the natural colorant color swatches, the easy-to-understand use of SAP values, and the immense amount of starter recipes. I truly understand how to craft my own recipe using percentages and SAP…

Too many animal products for me I wish I had read more reviews and perhaps sampled this before I bought it. I’m vegan, and every recipe I’ve looked at includes lard or tallow. Wow! From what I understand I can probably substitute (responsibly sourced) palm oil as long I’m careful to to check everything, but the reason I bought the book is because I’m a beginner soap maker and I wanted to just follow a recipe. Oh, well.
