Very insightful – must read Last year our family struggled to understand our 18 year old daughter’s eating disorder. This book offers some excellent insight . The author is in recovery for her own anorexia, and she tells about real teens that she counsels in her own practice. I was very prepared to sympathize and support my daughter during her recovery. I highly recommend this book.

A simple yet VERY worth-while book Not only do I find this book relatively easy to understand, but Carolyn gives real-world examples to support her theories and ideas. I am currently at her treatment center in Malibu and this book has not only enlightened me on eating disorders, but it has also aided me to comprehend what my parents and loved ones are going through and how the eating disorder affects them. I highly recommend this book!

Excellent resource for families and friends As a nutrition therapist I recommend this book to the parents of clients I am working with. Carolyn Costin offers professional guidance to parents with the her unique perspective as a recovered patient. The chapters intended for Mom and then Dad are especially helpful in gaining an understanding in the development and treatment of eating disorders. If you suspect or know that your daughter has an eating disorder I highly recommend this book.
