Losing the Rick Steves Touch Overall good, but not special anymore when compared to other travel books. Travel around Croatia is difficult using public transport- could have used more detailed info on overnight ferries, and ferries in general including personal hints, rather than just where to find them. We lived in Europe 18 years ago and relied heavily on RS books to gain that special insider info- his current books are missing his personal experience accounts. Excellent recommendations! My wife and I are currently on a 3 week journey through Croatia and Slovenia largely following Rick Steves’ recommendations in his updated guide book. His approach to travel allows for getting the most of your time, visiting key spots, avoiding the tourist masses (as much as possible), and getting the best bang for your buck!

I feel a tad bias I have purchased and watched Rick Stevens for travel! What I did not agree with is many place I did travel his reviews seemsed to be aimed at the wealthier , tourist…. I found half of this useful but would talk to locals instead. I discovered places he disregarded and found to be spectacular….
